“Untold stories, unheard voices and individualism give us a better understanding about any plight”

Second print of FSWL book is out now, with an update on how we spent donations coming from the first print. This book, written by syrian children living in the camps illustrates the plight of refugee children, messages to the world, stories about their past, present and dreams. Kawthar shares her experience of early marriage with readers, Douha shares her diary and many other children share their thoughts and dreams. The fabulous Caroline Lucas MP wrote a foreword for the book. This collaborative work wouldn’t have been accomplished without these amazing people:

It also contains a series of vignettes, poems, photography, and quotations – all a reflection on the Syrian crisis and its effect on the children of the Lebanon refugee camp. It was put together by several collaborative volunteers including translators, writers, academics and university students. We have sold out the first print of 1000 copies in the first 4 months of publishing.

The book hopefully will project the voices of these unheard children of Syria’s ‘lost generation’ into the world. They are inspirational in their courage, strength, and dreams. The book also has poems and pieces written by the children themselves, and they are published side by side in their original Arabic form and in English too. It is ultimately an attempt to bridge the gap between the British and Syrians, and the rest of the world, and will be another important step towards integration, equality and peace.
